| ...appraisal
of machine cold offsets for optimum machine alignment at running
conditions taking into account the effect of thermal growth
and on large machines, the rotor position within the journal
bearing due to dynamic effects. This is particularly relevant
to speed increases gearboxes where the wheel forces cause the
pinion to rise in the bearing clearance. We can also determine
optimum machine moves in a train to minimise machine movements.
This minimises misaligned piping flanges and hence avoids piping
strain.

We
have a lot of experience in the use of laser alignment tools
such as ‘Rotalign’ for machinery alignment and ‘Permalign’
to determine the movement of structures and machines. We have
also used specialist optical techniques involving telescope
and targets for compressor diaphragm alignment. |
